Presently, while discussing hair transformations in Hollywood, one can’t help but to mention the name ‘Minaj’. Whether her look is funny, fierce, or fabulous; Nicki Minaj knows how to make a fashionable statement. Straight or Wavy jet black locks; with a hint of highlight was all you witnessed, when we first placed eyes on this beauty. However, as her star began to shine brighter, so did her look. Cotton candy afros, delicious bobs, and luxurious layers are a few styles, we’ve seen donned by the “YMCMB’ Princess. Every version of pink, green, blue, multi-colored, and yes even cheetah hair have been spotted on the star and I’m pretty sure it won’t stop there!

Women are constantly looking to improve recycled trends. Lately one inparticular doesn’t seem to be fading. The shaved looked, brings out the rock n’ roll in all of us, but has this edgy style come and gone or is it here to stay?

In the 80’s Pepa (From Salt and Pepa, that is) had a little mishap with a relaxer treatment, which left her basically hairless on one side. Since, the 80’s was the age of originality and innovation; she turned lemons into lemonade and donned one of the most iconic hairstyles in hip hop history. Amazingly, this style has found a new home in the new millennium and definitely helps distinguish the bad girls from the good.

Unfortunately in the back of your mind; your mother and best friend are telling you not to do it. What should you do, why are you doing it, how is it going to look, will men still find me attractive!????

Questions for years that have plagued the ‘Big Chop’. Fortunately, there have been some ladies before you; that have braved this ultimate haircut and change the game of short style. Whether, you’re confronting your critics, shying away from the norm or just trying something new, individualism is on the road to obscurity. So why not put all those voices too rest and listen to who really matters, YOU!!! The initial shock will eventually wear off and you’ll feel different, because you are in fact different!

Some might argue that the ‘Big Chop’ is one of the most liberating experiences a woman can have. Shying away from the norm, is sometimes a healthy way to retain your individuality, so why not! Let’s face it ladies our emotions and our hair are one, but sometimes the “BIG CHOP” is a hyper shock to get those emotions in check! Now we are not condoning the Brittney Spears approach, but if you feel like a major change is in order, why not consider redesigning your crown of glory.

Yet, there was a new route that one black salon took in order to help his clients get in a romantic mood.
To show his appreciation to his clients, celebrity hairstylist Patrick Wellington of Wellington Hair Spa decided to have a Valentine’s Day Pampering Event this past Saturday.
“I haven’t really seen salons do this before,” Wellington told theGrio. “I’m pretty sure that there are salons that have, but I have not seen many of my peers do it.”
